How we arrived here
A few years ago Shelley Road URC and St. Columba’s joined together as one congregation. The sale of the Shelley Road building enabled us to develop this site with the addition of our lovely new entrance and link building with a welcome lounge, committee room and new toilet.
Who we are
Worship is at the heart of our life together. Being in the Reformed tradition we value the discovery and exploration of God’s word in preaching and other creative ways. All is done in the context of song and music drawn from our rich heritage and from more recent sources. This includes music from Taize, the Iona Community, Graham Kendrick and beyond. We encourage everyone to engage and participate in worship in prayer, reading, drama, silence and activities.
Worship is for all ages, for people of all backgrounds and life experiences and we seek to reflect this in what we do. In worship we are prepared, challenged, encouraged and motivated for our mission which is to show the love of Jesus Christ in our communal and individual lives and to respond in loving concern to the needs of local communities and the wider world.
Where we’re going
We are looking to be more creative in our worship life. Our redevelopment gives us a set of buildings that are light, welcoming and flexible in which the communities around us will be able to comfortable and allow us to serve them by working in partnership.
We aim to be a church where it is safe to ask questions, express doubt, and seek answers. We seek to be a richly diverse company of people committed to being on a journey together as we make sense of the claim of Jesus Christ upon our lives in a complex and often unsettling world.
Every Wednesday, from 10.30 a.m. we have our Open DooCoffee Shop. We welcome anyone who would like to pop in for a cup of coffeee and cake, ask any questions or just have a chat. Alternatively you may welcome the opportunity to sit quietly and reflect. Whoever you are, you will be made welcome.
